Christmas Baskets for Widows
A gift that says,
“You are remembered.”
While Christmas can be a beautiful season of celebration, it can also magnify the absence of a loved one. It is an especially tender time of year for many widows. Through Sacred Share’s Christmas Baskets project, we collaborate as a community to ensure widows feel remembered, seen, and cared for this season.
Each basket is prepared for a specific woman. We gather thoughtful gifts, consider what has been shared with us about her, add a handwritten note, and make sure the finished basket is ready to reach her with dignity and love. When a widow has children at home, we also seek to include gifts for them.

More than what’s inside
A basket holds a set of core items and maybe something cozy, a favorite treat, a useful gift card, or a set of small gifts chosen with her interests in mind. Those things matter. So does the message carried with them:
We see you. We remember. You are not forgotten.
These gifts don't “fix” the absence of a loved one. But we know they help women feel known and cared for in a season that may now come with a sense of longing or emptiness.
How a basket comes together
We listen. When possible, we learn about each widow’s preferences and the people in her household so her basket feels personal.
The community gathers. Individuals, churches, businesses, and volunteers contribute gifts, supplies, time, and practical help.
We prepare with care. Volunteers organize the items, assemble the baskets, add notes, and check the details before distribution.
We make the connection. Sacred Share coordinates with the widow or someone who loves her so the basket can reach her thoughtfully.
This project is made possible by people who choose to remember widows during the beautiful time of year.
Some give gifts to place into baskets. Some offer their skills or resources. Some spend hours sorting, wrapping, writing, assembling, and helping baskets find their way home.
Each part matters. Together, these acts of care help us say something personal to every woman we serve: you are seen, you are known, and you are remembered.
